Yann Seznec

Hello

I am a sound artist and researcher based in Stockholm, Sweden. I am currently working on a PhD at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, focusing on constraints-based design, experimental music and sound interfaces, and sustainability. I am scheduled to defend my thesis in June 2026.

Previously

I lived for a long time in Edinburgh, Scotland, where I worked as a freelance sound artist, musician, performer, and occasional teacher at various universities. From 2017-2019 I was a lecturer at Abertay University. I also founded Lucky Frame, a small creative studio that made video games and interactive experiments and was active from 2008-2015. I was also Game Designer in Residence at MICA in Baltimore, Maryland between 2019-2021.

What do I do

My work is usually sound-based. I tend to make audio devices that are constrained or limited in some way, in order to see what they are like to play and what questions they open up. Sometimes my designs get used in performances or installations by me or other people.
